our name

Our name means "butterfly" in Spanish. We selected the name "Mariposa" because many people who adopt a gluten-free lifestyle transform their lives through food.  The butterfly is the perfect metaphor for such transformation. Being a California-based company, with all the Spanish influences in California, we decided the Spanish word for butterfly was perfect.

Patti Furey Crane adopted a gluten-free diet following a diagnosis of multiple sclerosis in 2002.  Patti turned her health around through food, through diet and of course, through managing stress.  Mariposa is not about disease - whether MS or Celiac Disease.  Mariposa is about health and well-being and the start of a transformation that's possible through food.
